1.Learn famous Chinese festivals and western festivals and learn how to celebrate them.
2.Guess the meaning of the words according to the pictures.
3.Discuss favourite festivals.
Teaching preparation:
1. Look for the information about six festivals before class
2. Radio and multi-media.
Teaching procedure:
Step1 Lead in
1. Show the students some pictures, learn new words festival and celebrate.
2. Tell the students some information about National Day. Ask the students: Do you know any other Chinese festivals? Lead in welcome to the unit.
Step 2 Presentation
1. Show the pictures of different festivals. Let the student tell the names of these festivals.
2. Divide students into groups, discuss how to celebrate them, at the same time, teach the new words.
3. Show the description of these let the students use the names of these festivals to complete the sentences.
4. Let the students complete Part A on Page 57.
Step 3 Presentation
1. Ask the students: What do you usually do on that day and how do we celebrate these festivals?
2. Listen to the conversation between Millie and Tommy and answer some questions.
3. Read after the teacher and read together. Explain some important phrases.
Step 4 Comic strip
1. Show pictures of Eddie and Hobo and ask: What are they talking about?
2. Listen to the tape carefully and answer some questions.
3. Read and act the dialogue.

1. Search more information about Halloween and prepare for Reading.
2. Write a short passage about your favourite festival.
